He Gave Many Interviews
A compilation of Charlie Vickers interviews in the wake of the Season 2 finale of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

He has many names. Sauron. Mairon. Gorthaur. Annatar. Artano. Zigur. Halbrand. Babygirl. Gooron. Tevildo.1 He is the great enemy of the Second Age, the new Dark Lord. And he is played incredibly effectively by Charlie Vickers; his performance in Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has many people talking about an Emmy nomination. And he’s such a good actor that it’s easy to forget that he’s actually quite a nice person in real life. Luckily, we have numerous examples that prove this point, even for the majority of us who’ve never had the chance to be invited to Amazon’s events for Rings of Power, or work in the industry and thus have the chance to interact with him. Season 2 ended on October 3, and almost as soon as our eyes were dry from watching that finale, we got to see Charlie in his more natural and authentic person, as he and various other members of the cast and crew went on a media blitz to talk about their project. And it was quite a comprehensive blitz, with a lot of insightful content. So, as I’ve done before in the aftermath of SDCC and the World Premiere, I’ve gone a head and compiled a lot of them into one convenient location.

He has been quite the busy beaver, as he waits (as do we all) for official confirmation of Season 3; we have been hearing a lot of hopeful, unofficial chatter, but nothing definite yet. Hopefully we get our official confirmation soon. Season 2 was great, and part of its success comes from how well Charlie Vickers understood the task of putting a face to one of the greatest villains in modern literature. Perhaps, judging from the number of people thirsting and simping for Annatar and Halbrand, his hotness and charisma, he succeeded a bit too well. Let us hope that soon, we will receive word that the wheels are officially in motion for his return to Middle-earth and the character of Sauron that he brings to life so well.

Technically Tevildo, the giant black cat who was Morgoth’s chief lieutenant in the first version of Beren and Luthien, was a completely separate character from Sauron. But he filled the role that Sauron would eventually assume, so Tolkien fans essentially equate the two for convenience, and because it’s funny.
The framing of this one is unfortunate; Elrond kissing Galadriel is such a tempest in a teapot, I’m getting a bit tired of talking about it. My longest footnote so far, in my Episode 7 essay, lays out my thoughts on it; and for a much more detailed analysis, my colleague Gabriella Abigel Fleishman wrote a full essay on just the kiss, which is very insightful.
