The Tongues of Elves, Men, and Wizards
A roundup of several interviews by the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power from San Diego Comic-Con

So there was an event this past weekend in San Diego. You may have heard of it, San Diego Comic-Con? Wikipedia defines it as a “comic book convention and multi-genre entertainment event held annually in San Diego, California, since 1970. It is held at the San Diego Convention Center. Originally showcasing primarily comic books and science fiction/fantasy media, Comic-Con has grown to include a large range of pop culture and entertainment elements across virtually all genres.” One of these “elements” that was represented is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, with a second season coming out on August 29. After a steady drumbeat of press ever since May, when an exciting Teaser and BTS video were released, it all culminated in the following beauty:
This alone would have been enough; indeed, I’ve watched this at least 10 times as I prepare my own reflections upon it. But it’s not all that we got out of the weekend. Not by a long shot. Starting with a deeply informative panel with the showrunners and several of the cast immediately after this trailer premiered:
And the interviews just kept coming. Which is why I’m doing this right now. There’s just so many, I tried posting them individually on Tales’ Facebook and Instagram, but I gave up around the second one. So instead what I’ve done here is compile a master list. As many interviews as were given this past weekend, all in one place, where they can be accessed easily and without having to wade through fluff and hate (unfortunately, although Season 2 is being met with much more hope and optimism than Season 1 was, I still ran into videos from Nerd Rot and other ruffians as I was putting this list together).

ScreenRant Plus did a bunch of small, 2-3 minute interviews with the cast: here’s the one they did with Morfydd Clark, our Galadriel:

Good Lord that was a lot, I know. And I’m sure I missed some. Some by choice; there were like 7 others from Screenrant Plus that I didn’t include here, but they’re still up on their channel. Some not by choice; I’m sure that after this article is published, a few more will come to light that I simply wasn’t aware of. But I hope you understand, dear reader, why I chose to do things this way. So much to go through, so little time to enjoy them one at a time; I did share the Variety one on my various socials, but that’s the only one I was able to take in so far. Now, at least, we have a record of as many interviews as I could find. We can refer back to them at our leisure, we know where they are, and we can find them without having to deal with the muck on Youtube.
Thank you all for your patience. I hope you enjoy all these interviews. In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned for future essays concerning Tolkien, and especially Rings of Power as Season 2 approaches. My thoughts on the trailer will hopefully be out on Sunday.
